I think this is probably going to be the way to go. If you plug the mic into the Zoom then you can plug a set of headphones into the zoom to monitor the audio. You'll also get better audio controls and monitoring displays. Another advantage is that you can use the Zoom as a remote mike by leaving it recording near your subject.
