for the MC402 This was the second Mcintosh amplifier that I have purchased. The other being the MC252. Compared to the other amps that I have owned, this amp has a very natural presentation. What I mean is that the timbres of instruments sound like what I hear in unamplified music.

The MC 402 is just a classic amp, it sounds natural in a tube way, bass slam when it is on the recordings, great imaging, and placement. It threads the needle on solid-state and better tube amps. My speakers can go below 30Hz and the impact when on the recording can be felt. In the end, it is system matching and of course preamp matching.

Massachusetts. The MC202 was my first piece of High End equipment (thanks SamS), so I don't have another amp to compare it to, but I absolutely love it. It's warm, powerful, and looks great! When I start to consider upgrades (a long time from now, I think), the MC202 will be the last thing I consider upgrading.
