    Then I played around with the audioWave in conjunction with some SOuP nodes, was quite funny but the audioWave isn't very accurate. In fact, it's looking more like random values *cough*. Anyway I think you should add some audio driven nodes to the SOuP package.

    The Maya 2015 Texture Deformer is good for this... as far as the audio control goes, you have a couple options. Bonus Tools comes (or at least used to come) with a plugin called audioWave that you can use to get the amplitude of a sound file and drive a channel with it. You could use that amplitude to set the envelope of the texture deformer.
