It has that 70's Marantz guady appearance in my opinion but the thing actually sounds pretty good. Basic belt drive, nothing too fancy in the way it operates which is why I probably like it. I've never done any critical listening to it other than deciding that it sounded pretty good before putting it away ( I collect).

The biggest cause of speed issues I’ve found with the 6100 which I own one of is. A. Worn belt. B. Worn drive motor. C. Belt particles on area where belt rides (causes a warble effect from old belt not completely removed and platter cleaned with ipa and no fingers touching the belt area. D.

I have a Shure m97xe on my Marantz 6100 table, and when I attach the counter weight, the needle skids to the outside, and won't play. I tried playing without a counterweight and it skips a bunch. The tracking force of my cart is at 1.5 grams, so I don't think that is the problem, and I have read the manual for the marantz many times. Please help!
