M-Audio Prokeys 88 - Sound on Sound

    https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/m-audio-prokeys-88
All in all, the Prokeys 88 makes a great MIDI master keyboard in conjunction with a USB-capable computer-based sequencer. The Prokeys 88SX While this review was being written, M-Audio released a cut-down version of the Prokeys, priced at just £289. They sent me one so that I could form some brief impressions before this article went to press.

M-Audio are good at midi interfaces etc, but this particular keyboard should not have been allowed onto the market. As for paying $599 for it.... that's way over the top. Now I wouldn't give $200 for it new. Also the power supply was a dud when I bought it. I haven't anything good to say about this keyboard other than the fact that it has 88 notes.

However, portions of the description are for M-Audio's model ProKeys 88, the more expensive model. The 88SX has 7 great voices, is lightweight, easy to use and well worth the price. However, it does not have keyboard splitting functionality, 14 voices, sound layering capabilities or some of the other features mentioned in the description on line.

M-Audio ProKeys 88 and ProKeys 88sx review First of all, these pianos are NOT the same. Both are excellent piano, but for different people. You can buy both, m-audio ProKeys 88 and ProKeys 88sx in Amazon, and if you look at the prices, you can tell the difference: ProKeys 88 costs $300 more than ProKey 88sx.

M-Audio Prokeys 88SX I am a semi-pro, gigging musician. I was sick of sloppily playing on 76 key lightweight keyboards (Yamaha DGX-305) as well as heavy 88-key fully weighted keyboards (Korg N1) (my hands get fatigued after 3 hours).

ProKeys 88 gives you a lot more sound bank memory than even the closest competitor, loaded with larger, more realistic samples-14 world-class instruments in all, including split/layer capabilities. M-Audio paired those great sounds with an 88-key hammer-action keyboard, delivering a realistic feel to satisfy the most demanding pro.
