The MobilePre allowed me to set up a home studio at low cost that turns out great sound quality. I teamed it up with my MacBook, an Audio Technica AT2035 mic (great mic) and an M-Audio KeyRig49 controller board. I am not, however, using the Pro Tools SE that came with this unit.

M-Audio Mobile Pre-USB. The unit is powered by the included USB cable. Then you need a mini plug 1/8" stereo plug to monitor in and out. Nice Inputs Low & Hi Z. This all hooked up very nicely and quickly. But of course you need recording software. This "demo" software package was where I started getting into problems.
