I have used the M-Audio AV-40's for years, and moved to M-Audio BX8-D2 Monitors same speakers for the price you pay they are the BEST sounding speakers money can buy period. I found and use product called Ebtech Hum X Voltage Hum Filter or this Tripp Lite IS250 Isolation Transformer 250W Surge 120V will work well.
