it maybe a firewire chip issue - but let's hope not - you say you connect with a 4 pin cord - do you also have the ac power connected (only 6 pin cord give power to the unit)? but disable the onboard soundcard, then reopen shs, make sure the solo is set to wdm mode, and it is the plaback and record timing master, run the wave profiler, close shs and reopen - it should …

It worked fine. Never had problems with the M-Audio driver not finding or recognizing the FW410 device. The FireWire Solo you have may be faulty. I don't know how to verify if your problems are due to broken/faulty hardware or not. You may be able to find a used M-Audio (or other) interface locally rather than through eBay.

M-Audio Firewire Solo Setup Problems New Info (02-10-2007): I am questioning the M-Audio Driver. Windoze can not see the driver either. It comes up with M-audio 1/2 for both input and output in the sound device setup. The internal card driver has Realtec HD Analog IN and Realtec HD Analog Out in the play and record settings.
