JoaoM. Firewire is preferred for certain- you will get better performance with multi-channel audio than USB2, especially on a Mac. If you have a PC it is less of a concern particularly if you are just running stereo in and out. The Firewire 410 is a decent but dated interface. M-Audio driver support can be patchy also.

M-AUDIO FIREWIRE 410 - MOD WIGGLER

I'm using my Eventide FWH8000 as a soundcard now and it has ADAT out. I only used the FW-410 for CV because I got into modular just before the ES-3 was announced and I didn't mind hacking it. I had made some cable try outs before I decided to get serious with the modular too. I already had the Eventide then and used it for audio. Best! Pelle

Apparently some network cards interfere with the firewire signal. I'm not sure if the interference was with the firewire card, or the 410, since I didn't have another firewire audio device to test with, but the network card (which worked fine otherwise) was definitely the culprit.
