JoaoM. Firewire is preferred for certain- you will get better performance with multi-channel audio than USB2, especially on a Mac. If you have a PC it is less of a concern particularly if you are just running stereo in and out. The Firewire 410 is a decent but dated interface. M-Audio driver support can be patchy also.

m-audio firewire 410 sound quality? The output both analog & digital from my 410 is much lower and of lesser quality than from either my cd or dvd player. I discovered this by switching inputs on my preamp between computer and player while playing cd in player and same cd ripped to hard drive from computer.

Use a firewire hub is highly recomended. c) turn on the 410 and then other firewire devices. d) power up your computer. e) NEVER plug or unplug any firewire device as you will hear a loud sound if you do so. f) run the M-AUDIO firewire software to make sure your 410 was fully recognized. g) turn your speakers on.

I'm using my Eventide FWH8000 as a soundcard now and it has ADAT out. I only used the FW-410 for CV because I got into modular just before the ES-3 was announced and I didn't mind hacking it. I had made some cable try outs before I decided to get serious with the modular too. I already had the Eventide then and used it for audio. Best! Pelle
