I own a bunch of M-Audio stuff and thier support is awful. I have tried to call in for issues related to these broken monitors, and also for my Firewire 410. For the FW card, I just sat on hold for about 45 min and just gave up. They do have cheap, and sort of good products, but, in the end, M-Audio stuff is usually just not worth the savings.

Bought the BX5's. Result = Added SBX Subwoofer to fatten out the sound. Result = Connected all it up to an M-Audio Delta 66. Result = WOW! Recommendation: If you go for the 5's get the Sub as a "must". If you go for the 8's get the Sub as a "must". Buy Delta 66 or better soundcard to complete setup. Hope this helps....

I would just go with any subwoofer with RCA line in you can find on craigslist for around $100, that's how I got my home theatre subwoofer. It's not boomy and I have it at a decent volume level that it blends in well with the BX5a. I really can't justify spending $500 on the M-Audio SBX10 subwoofer and I'm satisfied with the subwoofer I have.
