The keys do not transmit finicky velocities like the Edirol PCR-800 and Xboard, and the aftertouch is very responsive. If you're an expressive player, you'll want the Axiom. The Edirol is great, except you need to put your whole body weight into it to get the aftertouch to work. Very unresponsive. I have owned all three and played them extensively.

With this in mind, I did try out other USB computer studio keyboards, such as those offered by M-Audio, but when it came time to lay down my cash I had to go with a Roland, the Edirol PCR-800. There is no comparison to the higher quality of the Edirol over other brands.

The Edirol PCR-300 gets my vote because of the cross fader (awesome for djing with Ableton) and the sliders. I also really like how the usb connects on the side. If I could go back I would probably take the PCR-800 over my Axiom 61.
