    Low and Behold there was one available for the Realtek microphone and speaker that was supplied fitted with my PC. I downloaded it and installed it and everything now works! Wonderful! For Gateway users with Windows 7 or Vista the file was Audio_Realtek_ALC888S-VC2_6.0.1.5901_W7x64. I downloaded and saved it on PC.
