I have recently tried using an M-AUDIO Mobile Pre-USB running into my Logic Pro 8 (on a MacBook Pro) to record guitar. There is a RIDICULOUS amount of feedback and hiss even when I'm not playing. I have downloaded the newest drivers from the M-Audio website, but it hasn't gotten any better.

Unplug the Scarlett, turn the computer off for a few seconds. Leave the Scarlett unplugged, turn the computer back on. Go to System Settings/Sound and set everything (Input/Output) to built-in audio. Input, choose something other than Microphone if possible but not digital, Output to built-inaudio or whatever works for the computer speakers.
