I had the same problem with v4.15 installed on Windows 7 64bit. Everytime I tried to change the sound from dummy it reverted. I got around it by going to the install directory (C:\Program Files\LMMS) and removing the "read only" permission setting on the entire folder. There were also some weird / \ issues in the path names in the settings.

I'm having issues with LMMS's audio settings. No matter what I try, the audio interface defaults to "Dummy", and won't output sound. Is there a way to fix this? It'd be pretty nice to actually hear the music i'm working on. I'm 99% sure it's an LMMS-specific issue too, because MuseScore's playback works just fine.

None of the settings have big effects on performance as far as I'm aware, but I would enable "Sync VST plugins to host playback", and in 1.2 enable "Keep effects running even without input". In the performance tab (third one), I'd enable auto-save and auto-save while playing in order to prevent losing too much progress in event of a crash.
