I am installing Fedora 13 on my new eeePC. I installed skype on it and made a test call and couldn't hear my voice. My mic works great with Sound Recorder so it's got to be a skype issue. When stopping the PulseAudio server and starting skype without it, skype works great.

It looks like this is specifically a problem of Skype with PulseAudio. Skype would be gradually muting your microphone when you speak to it in a loud voice, and finally mute the internal mic totally.
