I installed PulseAudio. I set the configurations using that app, but after some seconds (or when I hit the mic's top dB) the mic gets muted again and again. All the configurations go back to default, and the other participants cannot hear me. I tried another online videocall application. my mic was working there for 2 hours without any problem.

I am installing Fedora 13 on my new eeePC. I installed skype on it and made a test call and couldn't hear my voice. My mic works great with Sound Recorder so it's got to be a skype issue. When stopping the PulseAudio server and starting skype without it, skype works great.

Only PulseAudio is listed in Skype's configuration as microphone option. Amplifying the input audio to the very top (>100%) manages to get some sound, but it's distorted and still almost inaudible. Solutions tested without success: Trying to configure it trough ALSA instead of PulseAudio (many sources, this one for example). No luck tweaking the few options available.

sudo apt-get remove pulseaudio. Then reboot the system and try using skype. Make sure to turn off "allow skype to adjust mixer levels" in the audio settings and make sure in Alsamiser or XFCE4-mixer that the microphone is turned on. Hopefully someone finds out why pulseaudio capture does not work on Realtek HD anymore.

Pulseaudio has no MIC input / Newbie Corner / Arch Linux ...

It looks like this is specifically a problem of Skype with PulseAudio. Skype would be gradually muting your microphone when you speak to it in a loud voice, and finally mute the internal mic totally. I have tried this again and again, e.g. recording with audacity doesn't have this problem, but only skype. Last edited by leeyee (2011-05-08 04:48:49)
