Doom3 sound issue - openSUSE

    https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/491043-doom3-sound-issue
Fingers crossed I never before compiled anything on Linux. The difference between oidoom and dhewm, is the compile program used. dhewm3 uses make instead of scons, and this source is newer, so I should not have sound issues. There is no doom 3 Linux version, but they released the source code, so we can compile it our self.

sound - Anyone get DOOM 3 audio working properly with ...

Closed 8 years ago. The audio configuration must have changed from 9.10 to 10.04, because audio no longer seems to work with DOOM 3. This was the suggested way to run DOOM 3 before, and it worked fine: doom3 +set s_alsa_pcm plughw:0. However, DOOM 3 is completely silent after I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04. Has anyone gotten the audio for DOOM 3 to work in Lucid Lynx?

DOOM3 outputs sound with a rate of 44100Hz, while ALSA usually uses 48000Hz internally. What happens is that the 44100Hz gets transformed to 48000Hz (usually by ALSA's `plug' plugin. read the alsa documantatin for more info) and while it works, the linear interpolation it uses makes sound very crappy.
