The Lepai can drive a 4 and 8 ohm load. The issue is not the wattage that the speakers are rated for, it is the sensitivity. The Lepai is OK for near field low to moderate volumes. If you are looking to fill a room with loud music using small speakers, the Lepai will fail to deliver. The Lepai is a cheap neat gadget, but that's about it.
