The 3G is above all a practical beast. The 3G's easy-to-use console. Although FireWire and USB audio interfaces are now extremely popular, the fact is that if you want top performance and rock-solid reliability, your best bet is still a PCI-based system (though obviously, this isn´t an option if you´re running a laptop).

That's what I'm thinking is going on with me hanging onto my Echo audio interface. I procrastinated upgrading to W10 so I could keep my outdated audio interface. I just want to be 100% sure (or close to) that is my dropout issue before I buy a new interface and decommission my second Echo Layla. Edited June 9, 2020 by razor7music

My New Echo Layla 3G is Whacking Out. Hello--. This might be a rant more than anything else, but also kudos for this forum. I had a Layla 24/96 for about 10 years and finally gave it up because of headphone pot static. I looked around and decided to buy the Layla 3G. Now, less than a year later, it's messing up on me.

Is it time to give up on the Echo Layla 24/96? I've been using this extremely versatile audio/midi interface for 15 years. It has always performed well and I truly enjoy the 8 in/8 out analog and 8 in/ 8 out digital interface. It uses a PCI interface card and frankly, finding motherboards with PCI slots is becoming difficult.
