LAV Filters are based on Linux open-source project called FFmpeg. FFmpeg supports more codecs than AC3Filters can handle. Whatever sounds best to you then use it. Also whatever works best or is most reliable and stable with programs that you use. After you pick one, remove the one that made programs unreliable and stable.

I was using AC3 Filter because I read that it is better for HD audio pass-thru but recently I've been having stuttering problems with DTS audio. I don't think it was the AC3Filter but after removing it and installing the SAF v5 beta, the stuttering disappeared. Now the audio is passed thru using ffdshow audio only and I don't have stuttering ...
