For the double die devices , I found that 220R gate resistor and 68 pf across gate and drain for N channel, and 150R , 150 pf for P channel worked well. These parts must be on each device, with capacitors right at gate / drain leads. Now here is the good part, it turns out that lateral MOSFETs make great driver stages.

The DC-offset is very small, 12 mV. The first thing I noticed is that circuit needs some compensation to be stable. This was fixed with one 22pF from base to collector of KSA1381 and likewise 22pF around KSC3503. The THD distortion at 1 Watt is remarkably low for such a simple amplifier: THD 0.0002% at 1 Watt RMS.

Lateral devices were sent back to OEM and tested on Curve Tracer – no issues reported. VAS from working amp (everything bar OPS) was swapped onto MOSFETs from faulty amp and same problem occurred. The working bank of 8 (4N+4P) was fine with any VAS, but the other available MOSFETs (8 of each) wouldn’t work with either VAS in any combination.
