trends audio TA 10.1 audiomagus mod or Kingrex T20 Tripath ...

Right now I am thinking about trends audio TA 10.1 audiomagus value mod or Kingrex T20 Tripath amp. They are priced the same, $250. I heard that Kingrex T20 is better than the original trends, but how does it compare to the value mod by audiomagus. Also, do I really need a PSU for Kingrex? That will increase the overall cost.

6moons audio reviews: Trends Audio TA-10.1

The Trends has it and that's addictive. Both amps stage well but more so in width. Depth is mostly forgotten (and true also for the next two candidates). Where the Trends outdoes the KingRex is in sorting within the shallow stage. It seems better structured since sounds are more defined and localization focus is higher.

The KingRex power supply lifts the sound slightly ahead of the stock version of the Trends. But if you put in a very good NOS tube in the Trends Audio then it may leap ahead again. I like the Trends Audio personally a bit more because I like tubes and the ability to tube roll allows for changes and improvements and to be blunt that’s rather enjoyable.

Trends Audio is another company in the vein of Kingrex — the manufacturer of the tiny T20and UD-01, both of which we loved. Trends Audio's flagship amplifier product is the TA10.1. It’s thinner but taller than its Kingrex competitor and packs the same kind of warm, clear aural tone.
