JL amps seem to have a high failure rate on this forum. turns out the amp was not burned, just went into protect mode. i don't know why the red protect led didn't light. but it was running it at 1ohm when the lowest the amp would go down to is 1.5ohms. I currently have a 500/1 and (2) 10w3v2 d4.

You may run into a problem using this method however, sometimes it will stay on or turn on when the radio is off. your best bet is to find an accessory power lead (behind the radio is fine) and use that to turn the amp on. also the JL amps are made so that line out converters are not necessary, you can feed speaker level right into the RCA jacks and select (hi) on the hi/lo …

I have one pair of JL Audio M6 880 speakers on my tower. They are currently powered by the tower speaker channel from the factory Klipsch 8-channel amp and are quiet and need to be woken up. I’m going to purchase eecyclone’s harness to adapt the cable from the DSP to a new amp but I want to know what is the appropriate amp to power them?
