I have an original JL 12W6 subwoofer. It is presently in a bandpass enclosure that I built a couple years ago with specs from JL audio. Question is would the sub work better in a ported enclosure? Would it be louder and sound better? If so how big should I make the box and to what frequency...

Any driver suggestions (JL Audio, Kicker or similar) on keeping a very narrow response range in a small enclosure bandpass which I can run a port up through the parcel shelf (total possible height of tube probably 14") of around 3.5+ inch diameter port.

10w6 ported or 12w6 sealed. I currently have a box contructed at 1.30 cubic feet per chamber. I was thinking about getting the JL audio's 12W6 which would be perfect and no mod's to the box, however, I noticed the 10W6 requires very little space for a ported enclosure. I could easily modify to make it work within specs.
