I would go with the JJ, myself. They make really good mics and do great mods. I have one of their U47-style FET mics and it is excellent, and used to have a JJ modded Oktava M319 that was also a great sounding mic. The Fox mod in it's original form, involved modding the stock circuit boards on mics like the APEX 460, etc.
