I just upgraded to the DirecTV HR21 HD DVR and the picture quality is great but the audio is out of syn on certain channels (the 500's). The installer said this is caused when the cable run from the dish to the receiver is over 100 feet. I don't this this is logical since the sync problem is only on certain channels and not others.
Audio synchronization is terrible...fed up with DirecTV ...

The H21 does not have any way to resync the video. The audio and video are carried on separate streams from the station and there is no way to tie the two together. It's a major weakness of digital TV. But the sync on the audio and video should not change when the HR21 is powered down and back up again.

5. Audio/Video sync is off on most of the HD channels - I think I have this fixed. I was able to correct this via my TV; it allows for an A/V sync adjustment when receiving a signal from an external receiver. 6. reserved for the unknown issue yet to rear its ugly head.

heroes on abc? had the worst audio sync I've ever seen but will have to find out if that was on every provider or a dtv dvr problem. most of the time there is just slight audio lag or vice versa at times on dtv but then other shows (live or dvr) are fine. might be the source so I don't want to attempt adjusting audio sync option of my hdmi ...
