The design is not an original, but inspired by a Meng Yue Mini EL34 amp that I picked up in Hong Kong on a business trip years ago. The performance of the stock Mini EL34 was not great; noisy (hiss and hum) and high distortion at low volumes. The input tube was a 6N2 capacitively coupled to the EL34.

I live in Hong Kong. A couple of months ago I had a Line Magnetic LM-218IA, which has 2 12AX7's, 2 octals (good for tubes ranging from 6V6 to EL634, to KT88), and 2 845's. It is rated at 22 WRMS/Channel. I had it for the ewuivalent of US$1050 used. New, it retails for the equivalent of US$1350 in Hong Kong.

If you're looking for the easiest place to get to then definitely in Mong Kok on Shantung Street. Now the stuff isn't necessarily fake but it won't be any cheaper than buying it online in the US.
