Good morning/afternoon/evening. I'm trying to resolve an issue related to Jack autodetection on an Intel motherboard. In a nutshell, I'm using a home made simple adapter for the HDA connector on the motherboard, to connect the line output of this HDA connector to an amplifier. There is a simple loopback wire between ground and the sense input.

Intel introduced HDA back in 2004 though both AC97 and HDA were supported in paralell for a time but anything even remotely modern should be HDA. According to it's datasheet the ALC888 is a HDA chip. I would suggest trying the HD audio connector first, if the rear audio output on your motherboard doesn't work try using the AC97 connector instead.

One is "NVIDIA High Definition Audio" and the other is "NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave extensible) (WMD)". I guess the Virtual Audio is for GeForce Experience HDMI adapters.
