So I'm using Handbrake to encode my blu-rays. I use H265 and audio passthrough. Picture quality is great but the player can't decode the audio. Mediainfo says the main audio is DTS-HD. I play it on my PC my receiver says it's DTS-HD. When I play the files with Kodi it says DTS-HD. The Zidoo details page says it is DTS-HD.

I was transcoding some DVB-S2 recordings with MP2 audio, but realized there was no audio. Passthrough is enabled for all but MP2, but somehow Handbrake seems to use TrueHD passthrough instead of the fallback encoder (AAC). I used the version installed from Manjaro Repo, but also tried the one from Flathub and the result is exactly the same.

recoding the dts-HD to dts is a little dirty. Use makemkv to rip the Blu-ray. When ripping just select the base dts sound track and leave the dts-HD on the disc. So your ripped using Handbrake and have no audio? First I would ensure the disk is good. Try playing back the DVD on a computer using VLC. If you have no audio try right clicking in the screen go to Audio > Audio Track > and try a different Audio Track. If you find an audio Track that plays ensure that track is included in when you rip the disk.
