Latency - GStreamer

    https://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/documentation/additional/design/latency.html
Latency. The latency is the time it takes for a sample captured at timestamp 0 to reach the sink. This time is measured against the pipeline's clock. For pipelines where the only elements that synchronize against the clock are the sinks, the latency is always 0, since no other element is delaying the buffer. For pipelines with live sources, a ...

Continuously print the latency of the audio output and the audio capture. In this case, you must ensure that the audio output is captured by the audio source. The simplest way is to use a standard 3.5mm male-to-male audio cable to connect …

Low latency audio capture with gstreamer - Stack Overflow

Show activity on this post. I need (almost) real-time audio capturing on Linux with gstreamer. My problem is that I cannot reduce the latency below ~210ms. I tried a simple loopback from mic to headphone: gst-launch-1.0 pulsesrc ! alsasink gst-launch-1.0 alsasrc ! alsasink. Both produced the same delay.

You should be able to bring your gstreamer latency down to the order of 3 ms using alsa directly. I have clocked a GPIO soundcard down to 0.5 ms latency with low CPU load. As you crank up the CPU load, the required latency (block size) will increase. To lower the audio latency, work out how to reduce the block size which ALSA is using.
