    To me, it sounds like the audio sink block is dropping large chunks of samples. To demonstrate this problem, I cut a small snippet of a song I like, and saved it as a 44.1 kHz, 16-bit PCM .wav file. The same file was imported into GRC with a Wav File Source block, and piped directly into an audio sink, all at 44.1 kHz, and the output was recorded.
