What i can tell is when rans dxdiag.exe in the virtualized xp sp3(in workstation 9 / 10) and went to the 'Music' tab on that and triggered the sound with the 'TestDirectMusic' button, the sound became stuttered only if when the 'Creative Sound Blaster PCI' had been selected.
