Skype already supports several Linux Distros, mobile OSes (Android/iOS) and the latest OSX builds. The considerable FreeBSD user base is still a fraction of those listed and I do not believe even a standard version of Chrome exists for that platform (which would increase the chance of compatibility with the web version).
