REALLY force Raspberry Pi to send audio via HDMI ...

    https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/13386/really-force-raspberry-pi-to-send-audio-via-hdmi
I was checking all the hdmi_drive=2, hdmi_force_hotplug=1, hdmi_ignore_edid, etc. options in /boot/config.txt. Which didn't help, because the Raspberry Pi did not understand that it should send audio, although the final video signal sink was a "dumb" DVI display. audio hdmi output config.txt. Share.

raspbmc - How do I force the Raspberry Pi to turn on HDMI ...

    https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/2169/how-do-i-force-the-raspberry-pi-to-turn-on-hdmi
hdmi_force_hotplug=1 hdmi_drive=2 hdmi_force_hotplug=1 sets the Raspbmc to use HDMI mode even if no HDMI monitor is detected. hdmi_drive=2 sets the Raspbmc to normal HDMI mode (Sound will be sent if supported and enabled). Without this line, the Raspbmc would switch to DVI (with no audio) mode by default. Share Improve this answer

Disable HDMI Audio & Force 1/8" Jack Audio? - Raspberry Pi ...

Many sources suggest using this line to force the Pi to use 3.5mm jack for audio output: $ amixer cset numid=3 1. I don't think this works. Given these two commands: $ amixer -h. cset cID P set control contents for one control. $ amixer controls.

Force audio output over 3.5mm jack AND HDMI? : raspberry_pi

    https://www.reddit.com/r/raspberry_pi/comments/1wkniw/force_audio_output_over_35mm_jack_and_hdmi/
I know there are a ton of posts (here and elsewhere) about how to force output over the 3.5mm jack OR HDMI - for example, if you have your Pi plugged into an HDMI TV, but want sound to go through an external speaker system. Usually the command is. sudo amixer cset numid=3 # where # is 0 for auto, 1 for 3.5mm, and 2 for HDMI.

Re: No sound over HDMI [solved] - Raspberry Pi Forums

My guess is its a computer monitor which reports its preferred mode is a DMT mode. DMT is only well defined in DVI mode, and DVI can't do audio. Try hdmi_drive=2 in config.txt to force HDMI mode. If not you could try hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=4 to force a CEA mode. If none of this works, post your EDID dump (with tvservice -d)

Raspberry Pi Documentation - Configuration

    https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentation/configuration/audio-config.md
The Raspberry Pi Zero uses a mini HDMI port, so you will need a mini-HDMI-to-full-size-HDMI lead or adapter. On the Raspberry Pi 4 there are two micro HDMI ports, so you will need either one or two micro-HDMI-to-full-size-HDMI leads or adapters, depending on how many displays you wish to attach. You should connect any HDMI leads before turning on the Raspberry Pi.
