The FMR Audio PBC-6A is a single channel compressor, and is the newest that FMR Audio has to offer. Comps that even have a knee control usually only have a hard/soft switch, but the Knee knob on the PBC-6A selects a continuous range of knee curve. It is not necessarily a high end piece of gear but it delivers a very compact, well balanced, and unique sound reminding a bit of an FET compressor though being a lot smoother. It certainly adds some kind of vintage colour to the sound (especially in thick mode).

In its manual, FMR Audio’s main man Mark McQuilken refers to the PBC-6A ($499 list) as “a nonlinear compression amplifier.” I’m not sure what “PBC” stands for, but I’ll guess something like “pretty bad-**s” or “pretty b****in'” compressor, especially considering this product’s distributor and close collaborator in production is Mercenary Audio, a pro audio store ...
