More and more applications are using pulseaudio and it seems to be the new standard coming through. Now for some reason, I cannot convince the flash plugin to use pulseaudio (which is available), it always tries to open ALSA, which is just plain wrong. ALSA is currently used by JACKD (or would be used by pulseaudio) and would be blocked in any case.

"EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1" in mms.cfg AND "card 1" in ~/.asoundrc => flash often crashes, otherwise described behavior. "EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=0" in mms.cfg AND "card 1" in ~/.asoundrc => flash does not crash but does not load either, no sound.

I have discovered that I can stop the sound fluttering if I follow these steps: Start a Flash video, such as a video on YouTube. Run pulseaudio --kill on the server. Wait about 7 seconds. After this, the PulseAudio server automatically respawns, and the sound in the Flash video is fine.
