Audio problems began on HDV clips. Now no audio at all on all media formats from within FCP. No levels – dropping frames constantly. Hard drive is firewire 800 – 600GB space left. Trashed preferences. Checked all audio output settings & audio master window. No success. All raw media plays fine in QT – it’s exclusively a Final Cut issue.

And they play back on the Canon just fine, audio and everything. But when I connect a Firewire DV to Firewire 800 cable from the camera to my macbook pro, and i go to capture the tape, there's no audio in FCP. i've tried doing it in an old CS6 version of Premiere that i have and it captures audio just fine.

What I did find out is that with 16 bit sound selected on the cam there is no sound transfer (firewire), but with 12 bit it works fine. The PV-DV910 also uses this system although I have been unable to determine why this should interfere with data transfer.
