Audio out of sync when imported into FCP - Apple Community

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2606876
The drift gets progressively worse. The audio is in sync ad the beginning of the clip. And by the time you get past the hour+ mark, it's as much as 38 frames out of sync with itself. Very weird. I plan to upgrade to FCP7. Hopefully that'll fix the issue. Seems like a lot of things "break" when one part of an Apple system is upgraded and another isn't.

How to fix audio sync drift - FCP.co Forum

The issue is that there is a tiny discrepancy in the clocking of each device and as they are not synced directly, any file longer than about 10 minutes becomes noticeably out of sync - by a frame or two. Stamping a frame rate on the audio file cures that particular problem - although I'm sure mis-matched sample rates also cause issues.

The video frame rate, audio sample rate, and other information should match exactly. Then, your FCP sequence settings should be identical. Another way to address small sync drifts is to razor-cut the audio and manually re-establish sync a few times on the project. Show activity on this post. I had the same problem.

Solving Audio Sync Drift | Larry Jordan

Well… if the audio is DRIFTING out of sync, its caused by a sample rate mis-match. If the audio starts and stays out of sync, or, at some point in the project, JUMPS out of sync, that will be caused by missing audio or missing video. First, I would not convert my AVCHD material to MPEG-4, then, again, to ProRes.

25 Hour Day: DSLR Sync Drift in Final Cut Pro

When it came time to conform the PAL version, the audio, while in sync in the beginning, drifted out of sync by approx. 5 seconds at the end. I tried the 99.9% solution and it worked. However, you don't seem to prefer that and, since ours is a music project, the sound quality is critical.

However, when I use them as part of a Premiere sequence that must be 29.97, 48000 Hz, the audio drifts out of sync over the course of like 15 minutes. I’ve tried to convert the raw files to all sorts of formats, from ProRes to MPEG-2. I’ve tried Compressor and Adobe Media Encoder. No matter what I do, the resulting file goes out of sync gradually.

We’ve been having an audio sync issue for a long time now and we’re going crazy trying to sort it out. We do a continuous 24/7 broadcast and over time, we see audio drift. At first, things look very good, but after a few hours or even a whole day perhaps, sync issues become very noticeable.

One option is to change the speed of the audio clip so that the sync is maintained throughout. If the audio is ending early, you'll want to slow the audio clip slightly, if the audio is ending after the video, you'll want to speed the audio clip up slightly. Click on the audio clip on the timeline to select it on the timeline, then right click on the selected clip and choose …
