The ESL IIIb is a flat panel version of the popular curvilinear ESL III. This speaker was originally designed for studio monitoring purposes where detail retrieval and imaging were considered more important than dispersion. Excellent sonic results can be obtained in small to medium rooms with no need for the addition of woofers or sub-woofers.

For my budget and my listening environment, I chose one of ER Audio's kits that bore the designation ESL III. The completed speaker is adequate for a room up to 6m x 4m. It will go down to 35-38Hz @ -5/-6db. Larger rooms would require additional reinforcements. The price of the ESL III kit by my standards, are not cheap.

Final 0.3 Repair Kit - Electrostatic Loudspeakers By ER Audio

The Final 0.3 hybrid electrostatic loudspeaker was an excellent speaker in its day. Some of these loudspeakers are now requiring attention to the electrostatic panel due to the aging effects of airborne pollutants. This has caused the panel to become less sensitive that it should be causing a mis-match between bass and treble sections.
