The EICO ST-70 and Dynaco ST-70 are different animals. The EICO is an integrated amp with 7591 output tubes and the Dynaco is a power amp with EL34 output tubes. Both are GZ-34 tube rectified. The EICO is a good sounding amp when properly set up, like many 7591-based amps. Some prefer the lower power ST-40 (also with 7591 output tubes).

Undersides look OK, with no obvious damage. Being that it looks pretty nice, I'm thinking that I'll do a basic recap and a fix a few known flaws and give it a listen.

The Eico ST-70 is a great performing amplifier for its day, one of the better tube amp designs around. I have been using either an ST-40 or ST-70 since the 1960's and wouldn't consider switching to anything else.

December 2010 edited December 2010. I was just reading in the Yahoo Eico group that the plating on the Eico ST-70's chassis contains cadmium which is toxic if ingested. A respirator is recommended while sanding or polishing. I was wondering why my sinus's were so sore for several days after I cleaned and polished.
