The firmware updated automatically and the mixer interface was easy to use. The "universal" inputs are great. They have lots of headroom and are very quiet. The Pre8 handled several different audio sources including keyboards, effects boxes and two modular synthesizers, with a mix of balanced/unbalanced, low and high line levels.

The first immpression of the Audiofire Pre 8 is that the box is built like a tank. The knobs feel like a well designed mixing board and the front panel 48 volt and phase switches are very convinient for the first two channels. You can plug guitar/bass inputs in without an active DI box. These inputs sound great.
