How good is the Echo Audiofire 4? Will it work reliably for recording guitar, sm57 mic, and using programs such as Reason 3 with low latency? Also will monitors such as the KRK pairs work well with this soundcard? It seems to be a good deal for $299, I just want to make sure I am spending my money's worth and getting a reliable soundcard.

FFADO doesn't yet fully support the Linux kernel's new FireWire implementation properly (the info on their website regarding this is rather ambiguous but the short answer is that it just doesn't work) so I built a custom kernel with the old FireWire implementation.
