I haven't heard the 1212M, but I used to have the 0404, and am now using an Audiophile 192. I'm much, much happier with this card. Not only are the drivers worlds better than the E-mu cards, (no session switching when changing samplerates, less buggy, etc.) to my ears the AP192 is worlds ahead of the 0404.
