The 42s have a quality whereby a snare or clap stands out from the mix and sounds perfectly accurate in terms of attack and decay. Vocals are similarly perfect, but the speakers are not analytical. The bass and treble at either extreme are accurate but warm and rich.

What they did have were the B&W 685 and Dynaudio 42s. We ran them through a NAD C325BEE (which is the amp I'm looking at buying) and tested a number of CDs on a NAD C525BEE (which I'm thinking of adding to the setup when money allows). First up were the distinctive and, I think, very good looking 685s.

He has a cherry left and a few blacks if you want his contact number let me know. I was going to get the Sub 250 for $850 but went with the Audience line of sub.

It is hard to believe, but the Audience 42’s can play at a measured 102 dBA without any compression. Listening to them for hours doesn’t cause any fatigue. The louder the sound the better. They are really outstanding speakers. It is impossible to find better ones except for the other Dynaudios.

This is a skinny version of Dynaudio''s 42 that I was using with a pair of 62''s. The sound is clean, but I felt the speaker didn''t have enough ambience to make you feel like the scene is unfolding in front of you. I eventually upgraded to a 122C with which I''m really happy.
