As I ran through both the Microsoft troubleshooting and Dell troubleshooting guides, I found out that when I put anything but an audio CD into the drive I get "please insert a disk into drive E". Media that would play just fine on my other drive, a DVD ROM: HL-DT-ST DVD ROM GDR8163B would not be recognized by the DVD RW: HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GWA4164B.
