Look for some setting in either DVDp or TV like: DNR, noise reduction, night mode, dialog assist, volume adjust. Maybe some variation of this. The settings don't have to match or anything, but check both machines. Maybe they are both set on the wrong way, doubly reducing your volume. I checked the settings as you suggested...

The reason dvd volumes are low is because AC3 audio is mastered at a low volume. (I don't really know the technicalities of it.) When you switch to 2-channel, you're switching to a totally different audio track. I get the same low volume with the dvds I rip to xvids with AC3 audio.

I noticed that when i rip a DVD & burn it (to DVD-R), the audio volume is low compared to the original, about half the volume of the original. In fact, when i was ripping to DVDs to SVCDs, the same thing would happen. i put it down to the conversion process but i could correct it using TMPGEnc re-conversion filters. Back to DVD-R's.

08/10/05 - 18:59 #11. If you just want to connect to the tv, make sure the output setting on the dvd player is 2 channel stereo or pcm, and not defaulted to surround sound. This may help with the volume.:) 0. Carl Stock Posts: 297. Forum Member.
