I installed Windows 7 on my HP DV1000 about a week ago, and the sound hasn't been working at all. It used to work when Windows XP was installed. I've tried installing new drivers for the DV1000, but still nothing. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. I can give more info if needed

i had the same problem (no audio output device is intalled) after installing windows 7 ultimate (32 bit) on my dv1000 (dv1629us) windows update took care of most of the drivers, others i was able to get from hp's website, go to "support and drivers" and type in the model # of your laptop (the longer one, i.e. dv1629us, dv1708nr, etc)

Re: HP Pavilion dv1000 OS Win 7. I would suggest getting Windows Update working properly as this seems to be your best option. There is a Vista version of the Audio driver here that may or may not work. There are no Windows 7 drivers available for your graphics chip from HP or Intel.
