Pinnacle 8 with the Pinnacle capturecard Av/dv with bluebox breakout. After fiddeling around I got it to work perfectly, 2 hour capture 0 frames dropped. Audio out of sync after analog capture - Apple Community

I'm capturing a vhs tape via a Sony DV converter box. I've used this setup hundreds of times and never have any problems. I captured a 2 hour tape using the basic DV NTSC 48k capture/sequence setting and the audio drifts out of time gradually over the course of the 2 hours. By the end its probably a good full second off.

I use several DV devices but the main one is a Canopus ADVC 100 (the 110 is the more current model). I also tried with an ADSTech Pyro. Finally tried with a couple of DV camcorders (JVC MiniDV, Sony Digital8). Video always works just no audio. I should also mention I am running Windows 7 64bit and that I tried using both OSB 32 & 64 versions.

Many get a used DVD recorder (Panasonic ES10 or ES15 recommended) and use it as a pass-thru tbc and frame sync, connecting it between the VCR and the capture device. Not as powerful as the heavy stuff, but it's cheaper and will usually do a surprisingly decent job.

Right-click on it and choose Link/Unlink Video and Audio, then click on a blank part of the timeline to deselect the unlinked sections. Now slide the video (top) section about 3 seconds to the right and adjust the timing (left/right location of V vs. A clip) so that the sound lines up with the video.
