    PulseAudio Sound Server is now in place of Dummy output in the Audio and Video - KDE Control Module as a audio playback device , but it still says "Dummy output" in the tray, but that might be just a display issue.. not sure.     Pulseaudio only showing "dummy output" device. I just did a 14.2 update (with slackpkg) and after the update, audio quit working. I checked the mixer and only "dummy output" and "dummy input" devices were there. I logged in as root and ran pavucontrol and it had the normal audio devices...     I suspect the problem is with alsa that doesn't recognize the audio card correctly: without an available output channel, pulseaudio can only show a 'dummy output'. Sounds likely, if aplay -l doesn't return anything. You should figure out what you can about the audio card and ask on alsa-user or something similar.
