    Well now that Alex B._ has ported the mp3 decoder to the dsPIC, I got to looking to see what else has been done. I found that the AAC (MPEG4) audio codec was done on the dsPIC in Sept '07, and got 44.1KHz stereo playback with only 3.6 MIPs of processing time!
